EcoLur's Statement on Arthur Grigoryan's Dismissal from RA Environmental and Mining Inspection Head Office

“EcoLur” Informational NGO

On 21 January 2019, under Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan’s decision Head of RA Environmental and Mining Inspection Arthur Grigoryan was dismissed from his office.

EcoLur believes that one of the unique officials of the new Armenian Government has been dismissed, a person who has volitional properties. During holding his office as an Inspection Head, Arthur Grigoryan has always operated in a transparent, objective manner exclusively within his competences. He has always been running dialogues with the specialist representatives of the society thus introducing a new quality and a new working style into RA Environmental and Mining Inspection and promoted the adoption of political decisions in the sector of environment to be based on correct facts and assessments so as the Republic of Armenia makes another step towards democracy.

The fact that the decision on Arthur Grigoryan's dismissal was published without publications and in the active time period of the operation of RA Environmental and Mining Inspection of bringing irresponsible business into the legal field causes perplexity.

In order to recover Armenia having appeared on the verge of an abyss because of the previous governance, we need our country governance to be transparent, accountable and with the active involvement of the society. Only under such conditions, we will have the development of our country and an open governance system, for which we have voted.
