'Vardenik' SHPP owner, the son of RPA Deputy Hakob Hakobyan, Paruyr Hakobyan denies the news that he had agreed to pay for the street lighting in Vardenik Community, Gegharkounik Region.
'We have refused to fund community lighting expenses, but we have agreed to annually transfer 10 million AMD to the community development foundation, which is to be established, the 100% shareholder of which is the community, the chairman will be the community head in power irregardless of the personality. This 10 million AMD shall be directed for the community development projects with reporting. The foundation shouldn't have paid employees, only on non-paid voluntary grounds. Street lighting is not a community development project, it's current expense. But it's not only us who should make investments into the foundation, all other businesses operating in the community and, in general, all stakeholders should have their contributions irregardless of the size of the amount,' Paruyr Hakobyan said.
In reply to the question whether they will transfer the promised 10 million AMD, if other businesses don't make any contributions, Hakobyan said, 'We will transfer during a certain period of time, then we will see: if it is only us who transfers money, then it is called extortion racket, and I won't stand any racket. All the community businesses shall have their contribution in the development of the community and each our step should be discussed with the Aldermen's Council of the community and the active population before reaching the final decision.'
It should be mentioned that it was Vardenik Village Municipality Staff Head Armen Hovhannisyan who informed EcoLur about their arrangement with 'Vardenik' SHPP operating company to fund the expenses of Vardenik street lighting.
