Cans made from the whitefish are sold in the Armenian market when the industrial fishing of these species have been banned for many years. Cans called 'Sevan Whitefish' were shown by Ex-Head of Environmental and Mining Inspection Arthur Grigoryan in the course of the public report held at Human Rights House Yerevan. He mentioned these cans are even exported, 'All the cans were produced in 2018: one was produced in Artsvanist, while the other one was produced in Tsovagyugh. If fishing is banned, how it appears in the market, how it is exported... there are questions emerging,' Arthur Grigoryan said. Arthur Grigoryan said the inspection head by him was going to carry out complex inspections in the area of Lake Sevan starting with the areas to fish reserves, and Sevan trout cage net project. 'This project is praised as an amazing project. Nevertheless, we have carried out a large examination and there is serious research-based information about very significant problems of this project. We should table all these problems and give solutions,' Ex Inspection Head said.
