On 14 May pan-Sevan garbage collection was held in the public areas along the littoral areas of Lake Sevan shore, where around 450-500 participants took part.
“The problem we faced was that the business entities leasing different land areas, clean their garbage and dup it into the adjacent public areas; they don’t transfer garbage to relevant landfill sites,” said Levon Galstyan, Coordinator of Pan-Armenian Environmental Front and the organizer of this event.
WWF Armenia and “ATP” Fund supported this garbage collection. Out of governmental bodies Nature Protection Ministry and Ministry for Emergency States supported the event, but not Gegharkounik Regional Municipality.
