No more than 170 million cubic meters of water will be taken from Lake Sevan in 2019. Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Suren Papikyan stated this at the September 12 sitting of the Armenian government. "I am officially declaring that we will not need additional water intake from Lake Sevan, moreover, at this moment about 30 million cubic meters of water have been saved, out of 170 permissible, compared to 53 million cubic meters last year," said Suren Papikyan. The Minister also noted that the level of Lake Sevan has already increased by 2 cm compared to the same period of last year.
"This is very good news," RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan responded.
It should be added that this year as of September 12, 139,789 million cubic meters of water were let out of Lake Sevan and the lake level is 1900.62 m, which is 2 cm higher than the level of the same day last year - 1900.60 m.
