Alarm Signal: Wastewater Flowing into Debed from Nahatak Tailing Dump Area

 EcoLur

The wastewater from the area of Nahatak Tailing Dumo of 'Akhtala Ore Processing Combine' CJSC is flowing into the Debed River, as Shnogh community resident Arayik Babayan is beating an alarm signal. In his company, EcoLur fixed how polluted water is flowing into the Debed River, while its water is used for irrigation.

'This water is coming from Ayrum Gorge: it is coming from Akhtala Combine, I think from the tailing dump. We use this water for irrigation – the trees have dried out, about 25-30 trees, while geese and cow have died. I had 60 geese, bow I have only 3. There is no frog or fish in the water.

'On 17 February, I applied to Akhtala OPC, today is March 1, but there is still no response from them, I have applied to receive compensation – 100,000 AMD for each tree and I have demanded not to cause any damage anymore. I am expecting from the Government to be persistent in this case,' Arayik Babayan is beating an alarm signal.

EcoLur is directing this alarm signal to Environmental and Mining Inspection Body.
