The people in charge of Geghardalitch Gravity Irrigation System have met today with Goght community residents in Kotayq Region. As Goght resident Vahram Sedrakyan told EcoLur in his phone talk, Goght residents demanded not to connect Geghardalitch Gravity Irrigation System with their irrigation system.
We told them there is no sufficient water in Karmir River to have the reservoir filled and to have additional land areas irrigated. The water is not sufficient for our land areas. They told us the reservoir will be continuously filled and we told them that the water springs supplying water to reservoir generate from the floods and have maximum one month of live,” Vahram Sedrakyan told EcoLur. According to him, the people in charge of the project promised the residents to present their demand to the government. An arrangement has been reached among Goght community head, Goght residents and Kotayk regional head not to launch any construction works, unless Goght residents’ requirements are fulfilled.
