The pipe of the Nahatak tailing dump owned by “Akhtala ODC” CJSC has been damaged, while the tails are flowing onto the road. On 15 March, Kamo Gharagozyan, an employee at Lalvar Forestry Enterprise of “ArmForest” SNCO beat an alarm signal on Facebook and posted the photos.

“In the morning on my way to work, I saw this in the section of the road running from Aramyants Castle to Akhtala. The pipes of the ODC which transfer tails to Nahatak Tailing Dump have blows and the surrounding area – around 300 or 400 meters, was covered with tails. Recently there have been accidents but no one like this happened. Most probably, the iron pipes seem to be tired of all this,” Kamo Gharagozyan is beating an alarm signal.

Gagik Shahnazaryan, Director in Foreign Affairs at “Akhtala ODC” CJSC said in his interview with EcoLur. “This is a technical problem not related to us. Stone has fallen down from above on the pipe and broke it apart, as it is a plastic pipe. There is a spot not reaching Poqr Ayrum where stones fall down and something like this happens. Nothing special has happened and now the cleaning works are about to be finished.”

EcoLur is addressing this alarm signal to RA Environmental and Mining Inspection Body to have the circumstances found out.
