A protest against the construction of “Kartchaghbyur-2” SHP has been declared to be held near Nature Protection Ministry at 13:00, 11 October. The day before, on 10 October, the activists headed for the village and stopped the construction of SHP, which had already been launched. “Today morning we headed for Getahovit Village, Tavush Region. We eye witnesses whatever the video recorded – destruction of nature, illegal documents and villagers’ common fight against this construction. We are arraigning before the court of public opinion. Today we managed to stop the illegal construction and to free the river from concrete. If the lawful demands of the villagers aren’t implemented, we will make them come true on our own,” says the statement by activists attached to the video material. The problem with “Kartchaghbyur-2” SHP, which impacts on two villages, Yenoqavan and Getahovit, has actively been discussed with general public. Getahovit villagers oppose to this project, while Yenoqavan village head having issued permit for construction, recognized his signature null and void.
