“ACP” Company intends to resume the operation of Alaverdi Copper Smelting plant in a very short period of time, as “Vallex” Group Company Chair Valeriy Mejlumyan on “Ankyun+3” TV program.

Mejlumyan speak about establishing supplementary productions, particularly that of steel balls, if they have a temporary emission permit for 1.5-2 years.

It should be mentioned that “Vallex” Group Company again puts forward the term of receiving emissions permit for the re-operation of Alaverdi Copper Smelting Plant. The pollution of the environment in Alaverdi and adjacent areas has already reached impermissible ranges because of the emissions having exceeded the standards several times. As the specialists of the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague having worked in Lori Region within the frames of Czech “Arnika” Company dealing with chemical safety, the pollution with heavy metals is rather high and impacts the environment and human health. The Czech scientists have detected a new risk, dioxin - a carcinogenic substance, in the eggs of the hens kept by the residents.

Speaking about the dispute around the cessation of the operation of Teghout copper and molybdenum mine, Valeriy Mejlumyan noted that the dispute with the VTB Bank funding Teghout project is still in progress and will be possible to speak about it in details only after the end of the dispute.

According to “Vallex” Group Company Chair Valeriy Mejlumyan, “The bank has been proposed, particularly, to drastically reduce loan interests, which, reached up to 19%, nevertheless, the bank hasn’t accepted this proposal.

Reminder: the VTB bank has given a loan of 380 million USD to “Vallex” Group for the operation of Teghout copper and molybdenum mine and “Teghout” CJSC, one of the companies of “Vallex” Group operating the mine, was transferred to the bank for not paying off the loan.
