The State Territorial Environmental Inspection of Syunik Region is still keeping silence, though it should have long disseminated hot information about the emission of dumps in the region inhabited with people and can drink intoxicated water and to get harvest from the intoxicated soil. The Press Service of Nature Protection Ministry doesn’t answer phone calls. Health Ministry is also keeping silence represented by Sanitary Inspection.

Amother accident at the tailing pipes of Zangezour Copper and Molybdenum Combine led to the emission of dumps into the territory of Kapan, Sgharshik Region. The dumps flooded the gorge and built up in the pit dug out by one of the residents for fish farming. Kapan-based Aarhus Center Coordinator Ashot Avagyan told EcoLur about this: the accident occurred at the night of May 8 and lasted for several hours

In the 1960’s “Prometey” Chemical Factory used another waste collector which is situated in the northern-western part of Vanadzor, near “Kongo” and “Taron - 4” neighborhoods.

The Aarhus Center in Vanadzor together with the Hetq decided to find out the situation the waste collector is in. Most of pipes in drainage system of the waste collector were missing, while it means water coming from mountains flow into the waste collector and getting mixed with toxic substances, then flow out. This structure is not fenced and there are no signs warning about its hazard.

Project in plastic wastes processing in Armenia will be implemented. USAID Armenia Mission Director Jatinder Cheema, UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Dafina Gercheva, and Director of the Eco-Engineering company Harutyun Petrosyan launched a joint plastic recycling program in Armenia to be primarily implemented in Yerevan, Gegharkounik, Lori, Armavir, Kotayk and Shirak Regions.
