EcoLur found a document which says that the drain of Geghanush tailing dump developed by Deno Gold Mining Company was built with violations and doesn’t comply with the project documents and proposals. This opinion has been provided by the National Bureau of Expertise on the request of the Court of General Jurisdiction in Syunik Region. The court asked for the expertise in regard with the claim issued by “Mrkadzor” LLC against Deno Gold Mining Company.
The case is that the car service station owned by Mrkadzor” LLC incurred losses from the collapse of the wall running parallel with the drain of Geghanush tailing dump. The opinion of the National Bureau of Expertise says, “…the concrete wall collapsed as a result of the washing out of the bottom and walls of the drain in the pulsation process on the spot of junction of the new and old drain…The construction of Geghanush tailing dump was implemented by “Shinanararutyun AAEK” CJSC with the violations, which doesn’t comply with the project documentation and proposals…” the opinion says.
Reminder: Geghanush tailing dump was constructed on the spot of the old one with the credit line of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as a project of environmental significance. The sum of the loan is 4 million USD. The tailing dump was put into service in 2007. In 2012 the tail pipe of the Geghanush tailing dump had three breakdowns, which resulted in tails pouring out into environment.
