“The works on Arpa-Sevan tunnel have been accomplished, and I think next year the tunnel will be fully operational. At the moment, studies are underway to increase the tunnel bandwidth, and we will probably have a definitive answer next year," as Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan said at National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on December 4, in response to the question of the Bright Armenia faction when the Arpa-Sevan tunnel will be launched, which will contribute to the increase in Lake Sevan level.
The Deputy Prime Minister reminded that no additional water intake was made from Lake Sevan this year. Moreover, 143,857 million cubic meters of water were released from the lake by the law of 170 million cubic meters, saving about 26 million cubic meters. It should be noted that as of December 4, the level of Lake Sevan is 1900.46 m, which is 5 cm higher than the index of the same day last year - 1900.41 m. As of the same day, 156,452 million cubic meters of water flowed into the lake through Arpa-Sevan aqueduct.
