Armenian Government Focuses on Reservoir Construction and Water Accumulation Issues

“Today effective water management is one of the most important issues in the world. Armenia has sufficient water resources and though they are not used completely, nevertheless, there is evident progress in improving water management system…” said RA National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamayan at the meeting with the members of World Youth Parliament for Water. RA Deputy Prime Minister, Territorial Administration Minister Armen Gevorgyan also had a meeting with the parliamentarians. Speaking about works done and to be done he said that in upcoming years the Armenian government will focus on the new options for reservoir construction and water accumulation and in recent years serious works have been conducted for irrigation system infrastructures and improving drinking water network.
The World Youth Parliament for Water was founded in 2000. The Parliament includes members from 25 countries, who conduct studies on water and submit their conclusion to national parliaments, governments and proper bodies. Armenia is also a member country. This year the World Youth Parliament for Water conducted its works in Armenia from May 13 to May 18, when 90 young parliamentarians from 15 European countries jointly discusses water resource management issues.
