EcoLur has received an alarm signal from Sevan Town resident, who informed that illegal actions are in progress in the territory of Sevan National Park. EcoLur team together with the resident (not mentioning the name for safety reasons) watched the sand pits in the territory of Sevan National Park, from where sand is regularly taken out. All three sand pits have different development durations at surface examination. One of the sand pits is already closed: it’s just a hole where garbage is dumped. The second pit is not a large one and is developed not for a long time. We have almost the same situation with the third sand pit. Sand is an expensive construction material and it’s impossible to use it legally in the territory of the national park. While illegal mining means either the national park doesn’t exercise any control or it has arrangement with the people who drive out sand.
