“ArmForest” State Non-Commercial Organization has been conducting wide-scale felling masked under sanitary felling in Jiliza forests having frontier military significance for already 4 months. Under the law, felling in forests having frontier military significance can be conducted 5 km far away from the border zone. While the cut down trees are very close to the border, sometimes they are located hundreds of meters away. Already 100 beech trees have been cut down in the territory belonging to Khojorni Forestry Enterprise which is located at 1,5 km of Alaverdi-Jiliza highway. Sanitary felling are designed for improving the state of forests, bit an anti-sanitary situation has been set up after such sanitary felling.
