The existence of Mozrov, Arjer and Magel caves is threatened, warned the chairman of the Speleology center Samvel Shahinyan and Trchkan civil initiative member Gor Hovhannisyan. According to them, the tourists harm the caves. Groups of tourists, who don’t respect any rule, threaten the existence of the caves, they say.
They also say that people often cut off the beautiful stones of caves and sell them. The ceiling of Mozrov cave collapsed because of the impact of the human factor. A huge hole appeared which does not allow keeping the necessary level of humidity in the cave.
Trchkan civil initiative decided to raise money and reconstruct the cave ceiling. They are determined to help “the poor ministry of economy” to solve the problems.
There are 4-6 species of bats in Magel cave which are registered in the Red Book. The Head of the Speleology Center complained of the fact that they are hardly keeping their membership to the world speleologists union because they do not have young members.
