Public Protesting, While Nature Protection Ministry Stating Everything is in Order

On 14 February Nature Protection Ministry of Armenia held the meeting of interdepartmental commission that could examine the issues connected with the settlement of obligations undertaken by the Armenian Government in regard with the Aarhus Convention and plan of measures. Nature Protection Ministry of Armenia and NGOs (Transparency International and EcoDar) circulated two contradictory press releases in content concerning this meeting. 

The press release of the ministry gave positive assessment to the implementation of the provisions of the Aarhus Convention, the measures designed to secure access to information and public participation were listed. 

With their press release NGOs deny this statement, and it was particularly outlined that the public opposed to the draft law 'On Environmental Impact Expert Assessment'.
