Whether National Assembly Has Mechanisms to Counteract to Unlawful Resolutions Adopted by the Government?

EcoLur

On 11 June “Civil Society Day in the RA National Assembly” (CS Day in the NA) event was held, where NGO representatives had an opportunity to address questions to seven National Assembly Standing Committees.

“Whether National Assembly has mechanisms to counteract to unlawful resolutions adopted by the Government,” asked EcoLur referring to the governmental resolution 781-N adopted on 31 July 2014. The committee members said they were not aware of the resolution. EcoLur addressed a letter to Martun Grigoryan, Chairman of National Assembly Standing Committee on Agriculture and Environment, its members Armen Avetisyan and Lyova Khachatryan, which says, “On 11 June you were presented a problem relating with the adoption of an unlawful resolution by the Armenian Government “Civil Society Day in the RA National Assembly” (CS Day in the NA) event on 11 June. This decision (https://www.e-gov.am/gov-decrees/item/24552/) contradicts to Article 17(c) of RA Law “On Flora” and Article 26 of RA Code on Subsoil.

After learning the resolution we would like to ask you to express the position of the Committee and to take measures to solve this issue in lawful manner.”
