Solar Plant with Capacity օf 15 MW To Be Built In Production Zone of Charentsavan

"Aske Group" LLC intends to build a solar photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 15 MW in the production zone of Charentsavan, Kotayk Region. The company submitted to the Ministry of Environment the application for the preliminary environmental impact assessment of the construction of the solar plant, on which the second public discussion will take place on April 12, 2024 at 15:00 at Charentsavan Community Hall. Under the project, the solar power plant will be built on the premises of "Armavto" OJSC factory owned by "Aske Group" LLC on lease and ownership basis, exclusively to meet the factory's requirements. A part of the panels of the solar plant is planned to be installed on the roof of the factory, a part in the factory area. The area occupied by photovoltaic panels will be 7.8 ha. The generator part of the photovoltaic station is planned to be built with 26,000 polycrystalline photovoltaic panels, each with a maximum power of 690 W.

The planned activity area is 4.1 km away from the Hrazdan River. According to the designers, the activity area has no direct borders with specially protected areas of nature.

According to the document, the activity area is semi-desert, unimproved, not used by the community and residents, devoid of vegetation.

During the operation of the solar plant, damaged panels and other damaged parts will also be generated, which the designers plan to accumulate in the existing closed storage building on the site, before handing over to the relevant organizations. Since the panels of the solar plant (battery) are made of different materials containing photoelements (glass, plastic), which contain (lead, chromium, cadmium, silicon, etc.), their utilization and recycling are an urgent solution for the Republic of Armenia; a problem, the solution of which should be given on the basis of the relevant legislation, program developed by the Armenian government, taking into account the experience of advanced developed countries," the project says.
