Damage of 4 Billion 882 Million AMD Caused to State and Environment in 2023

In 2023, RA Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body conducted 292 inspections instead of the planned 155, as Hovhannes Martirosyan, Head of RA Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body informed.

 In 2023, 78 inspections were carried out in the field of non-metallic mining, 61 inspections in the field of water resources, out of which 18 were carried out in fish farms, 9 in HPPs. In the field of construction, 34 inspections were carried out, out of which 23 were carried out in Yerevan, in large construction companies that carry out large-scale construction. 2483 cases of violations were recorded here, which is 100 more than in 2022.

A total of 1114 decisions on administrative fines were made in the amount of 135 million AMD. And the total damage caused to the state and the environment amounts to 4 billion 882 million AMD, out of which 1 billion 500 million AMD damage was recorded in the field of non-metallic mining due to the volume of illegal mining. A loss of 1 billion 250 million AMD was caused in the field of protection of flora and fauna mainly due to illegal tree cutting, whereas 1 billion 630 million AMD damage was incurred in the field of water resources protection.

In 2023, inspections of metal deposits were started only in Sotq gold mine. "The mining operation mode changes from surface work to underground work. The non-operation of the mine at the moment is conditioned with it. After the inspection, it will be clear what problems are there," Hovhannes Martirosyan noted.
