"Mendia Resources" LLC claims to conduct prospecting works at polymetal mining site in Vardenis, Vayots Dzor Region. The company has applied for a geological prospecting to RA Environment Ministry, and its second public discussion is scheduled for September 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the House of Culture in Vardahovit Village, Yeghegis Community, Vayots Dzor Region.
The requested site is located in the administrative area of Vardahovit village of Yeghegis consolidated community and occupies about 94 km2 or 9399.3 hectares.
According to State Register of Legal Entities of RA Justice Ministry, "Mendia Resources" LLC was registered in 2021. The owners are Armenian citizen Lilit Aramyan with a 15 percent share and Australian citizen Moore Dennis Jay with an 85 percent share.
Reminder: "Geomining" LLC, where the main shareholder is the Canadian company "Dundee Precious Metals", the former operator of Shahumyan gold-polymetallic mine in Syunik Region, has been conducting prospecting activities in various Vardenis mining sites since 2012. The company identified three prospective sites: Artsiv, Arjuk, Hazbi.
In 2019, "Geomining" wanted to continue the search for polymetals in an area of 195 km2 or 19.483.56 hectares of the mining area, which was located in the administrative areas of Yeghegis, Malishka, Gegharkunik Region, and Tsovinar, Artsvanist, Karchaghbyur communities in Vayots Dzor Region. However, during the public discussion initiated in Tsovinar community, the locals did not allow to hold hearings and rejected the project.
