Nature Protection Ministry Didn’t Hear Alarm Signal on Norashenik River Pollution

EcoLur

“Why there was no information about the pollution of the Norashenik River?” Nature Protection Minister Aram Harutyunyan was amazed at the press conference on 26 December, “find it out after the conference and report back to me.” The matter is about the press release circulated by the “green” activists about the pollution of the Norashenik River, Syunik Region, with the toxic wastes of the mining industry. The materials submitted by the activists caused large stir. EcoLur asked the Minister whether examinations were carried out on the pollution of the Norashenik River after receiving the alarm signal, what’s the damage caused to environment and which companies are responsible for emissions. But these questions were left without answers. For our part, it should be mentioned that the pollution of the Norashenik River is an accidental case, and not a regular one. As a result, Syunik settlement, where the river flows across, may be considered as a place of environmental disaster.
