Armenian Prime Minister: "We Don't Want Money for Water, Water Is Free, But We Want Money to Bring Water from Mountain"

During the session of February 1, 2024, the Government of the Republic of Armenia nominated the current President Garegin Baghramyan for the position of Chair of the Regulatory Commission of the Public Services of the Republic of Armenia.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the problems of the fields related to the RCPR, particularly water and energy covering also the water tariff.

"We don't want money for water, water is free, we want money for bringing water from the mountain. If someone wants to take the buckets, go and fetch water from the mountain on foot, no one will ask him to give money. 100 percent of the price of water is to deliver water to the place, and in the case of drinking water, with sufficient quality, because water has great epidemic risks,"  Nikol Pashinyan noted.

The Prime Minister also addressed the issue of pollution of Lake Sevan. "We have to solve the problems of cleaning the water flowing into Sevan. In general, we need to solve the problems of sewage treatment in our country,” Nikol Pashinyan outlined.

He mentioned that the RA government has big plans related to renewable energy, building a new nuclear power plant.
