We can’t understand how it turned out that one foreign company deals with illegal activities in our country, while our state officials learn about this from the NGOs. That’s the question of all questions. We don’t think that our state officials didn’t know about this, they are just seeking to gain time. This opinion was expressed by NGOs in regard with illegal operation of Geoproming Gold Company in regard with the company’s illegal operation in regard with the drainage basin of Lake Sevan. All these problems were discussed at the meeting of NGOs with competent officials on 17 November, which was devoted to the problems of Lake Sevan. It turned out that officials think that at this moment we don’t have any problems connected with Lake Sevan, while, on the other hand, scientists say there is no sense is voicing S.O.S. Sevan.
“EcoDar” NGO Lawyer Arthur Grigoryan noted that NGOs hold another opinion. He reminded all what kind of hazard “GeoProMining Gold” Company’s operation poses to environment. Simon Papyan noted they surely agree that the company has no legal permit for operating the crushing and sorting complex and that they didn’t see this complex with their own eyes. The Greens Union of Armenia Chairman Hakon Sanasaryan said everybody who was there was that complex. In reply, S. Papyan asked to submit a letter with legal evidences about the company’s illegal operation.
