On Formal Care of Government and Nature Protection Minister’s “Heroic” Intention

On November 24 the Government permitted to extend “Temporary Import” custom’s treatment for “Hydrologist” ship imported by Hydroecology and Ichthyology Institute of Zoology and Hydroecology Scientific Center of NAS RA up to 15 December 2014.

But it’s hard to hide your anger when the abovementioned information is displayed on the official website of the Armenian Government entitled “Researching the ecological state of Lake Sevan,” as if the government is concerned with the ecological situation of the lake and takes appropriate measures to carry out research and to sort out something. Moreover, this is when the same government and Nature Protection Ministry factually “ignored” the conclusions made as a result of year-long studies conducted by the same institute and with the same ship in Lake Sevan. Together with current and former Nature Protection Ministers, PM Tigran Sargsyan will, sooner or later, face responsibility for the elimination of whitefish industrial reserves in Lake Sevan and for its most serious ecological consequences.

P. S.

Nature Protection Minister Aram Harutyunyan with his decree № 238-A dated on 21 November 2011 banned fishing and crayfish hunting in Lake Sevan from 28 November 2011 to 28 December 2011 for natural reproduction of the whitefish and trout.
