Pan-Armenian Environmental Front
The Pan-Armenian Environmental Front (PEF) civic initiative has received an alarm signal that the river flowing through the neighborhood called “peremeni” has turned yellow. Before reaching Kapan the river flow through the area of Kavart derelict mine and then flows through the town into the Voghji River. Kavart derelict mine, the heavy metals of which get mixes with ground and surface water, has turned into a time bomb for environment and people.
Once again we addressing our questions to competent governmental bodies: who owns the derelict mine, who must supervise the situation and reclaim the mine, where are the departments in charge of mining?
