“Teghout” CJSC has been included in the annual inspection plan of RA Nature Protection and Soil Inspection Body of RA Nature Protection Ministry for 2018 to take relevant measures as a result of the damage caused to environment by the activities of Teghout CJSC, as RA Nature Protection Ministry Staff Head Hovhannes Hovhannisyan informs in reply to EcoLur's inquiry.
'During the second and third public hearings of 'Teghout Copper and Molybdenum Mining Expansion Project by 15 million tons per year submitted by “Teghout” CJSC, the society expressed its concerns with the raised questions, which is discussed and will be taken into consideration in the expert assessment process as much as possible,' the ministry's reply letter says.
Shnogh community residents have applied to Artsvik Minasyan demanding to reject Teghout mine expansion project. In 2015 the environmental organizations demanded in court from Nature Protection Ministry to carry out inspections. The case was suspended based in the decision adopted by the Government of Armenia, which suspended all the inspections in the territory of the country.
