The largest part of the water intake carried out for the industry in Syunik goes to the mining sector: according to 'South Water Basin Management Plan Action Plan for 2016-2022', the water intake for indsutrial purposes made up 79.5 million m3 in 2014, out of which 99.6% was used by Zangezour Copper and Molybdenum Combine, Dundee Precious Metals Company and Agarak Copper and Molybdenum Combine. Instead of taken clean water the mining rivers return industrial water to the river. Zangezour Copper and Molybdenum Combine CSJC annually dumps 473,000 m3 wastewater to the Voghji River, Dundee Precious Metals Company annually dumps 208140 m3 wastewater to the Norashenik River, Agarak Copper and Molybdenum Combine annually dumps 1.5 million cum into the Kartchevan River, while 'Sipan-1' LLC developing Tey and Terterasar gold mines annually dumps 107000 cum wastewater. 'South Water Basin Management Plan Action Plan for 2016-2022' document proposes to install complex cleaning stations to stop the pollution of the water resources. The value of one cleaning station has been estimated as 80 million AMD.
