A total of 19670 people have signed the open letter to the Armenian President coming out against construction of cafe in the Student Park in Yerevan.

Administrator of the group "We are the Owner of Our City", the initiator of the letter, on Facebook Artur Avtandilyan told ArmInfo the letter will be submitted to the addressees already on May 24: President Serzh Sargsyan, Parliamentary Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Yerevan Mayor Gagik Baglaryan.

Avtandilyan said a number of events are planned as part of the protest actions. One of the events, a photo exhibition dedicated to the Student Garden will be held in Charles Aznavour Square on May 24.

Large-scale construction of cafes in the given park has already "swallowed" 20 trees. Unfortunately, the Municipality and the Ministry of Nature Protection have not yet assumed the responsibility for the illegal felling.
