RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stated today that a special government committee has finalized a draft plan to implement a country wide program seeking to clean up Armenia that will involve a wide range of social and civic organizations.
PM Sargsyan said that a month ago, activists from the “Miasin” organization had staged a public action and had submitted a proposal to the government to back such a program and that he had called for the creation of a committee, headed by the Minister of Nature Protection, to come up with such a program.
The program, entitled “Clean Homeland”, will kick off in Yerevan on May 29 with the participation of several civic organizations.
“I believe it would be the right thing to do if all government agencies participated as well. The Nature Ministry will circulate details of the upcoming events. We plan to start in the capital and then tour the countryside,” PM Sargsyan said.
