Syunik continues its fight against uranium mine development. According to “Fund for Kapan Region Development” Executive Director Armen Parsadanyan, 99% of 10,000 signatures collected so far is against the uranium program. Under “Azatamart” Committee Chairman Khoren Harutyunyan, they have information Armenian-Russian Mining Organization dealing with uranium prospecting has started drilling works in Lernadzor. Nevertheless, public representatives on the spot say works haven’t started so far. They suppose the works may start after 10 August.
