On the threshold of the fall hunting season in Armenia, the Ministry of Nature Protection has declared that monitoring will be stepped up this year and that more inspectors will be sent out to make sure that all laws are obeyed.
Ecolur reported that some impatient hunters have already gone out in the field and have proudly shown off the prey they have bagged. A team of environmental activists took pictures of one such group of hunters and the birds they have shot. The Ministry’s Environmental Inspectorate has already registered six cases of illegal hunting of quail and pheasant. In all cases, the firearms of the hunters were confiscated and the courts will set the penalties to be paid.
