The Armenian government's decision, according to which 22.5 ha of the Dilijan National Park will be given for rent to State Revenues Committee for 25 years, has caused indignation of ecologists. The green activists say that a training centre will be built on this territory, where seminars and training courses for the employees of the State Revenues Committee will be held.

As the head of the "Ecolur" non-governmental organization Inga Zarafyan told Arminfo correspondent, no public hearings were held on the matter, although the Orhuz-Centre has been functioning in Dilijan. Moreover, the ecologists were not given the information about the conditions of the rent. "We cannot even check if they are in line with the management-plan of the Dilijan National Part", - she said.

Zarafyan also pointed at passive position of Armenian Nature Protection Ministry, which did not react at the challenge of ecologists to hold public hearings on the draft.

She also added that the issue on delivery of 22.5 ha to the State Revenues Committee is on the agenda of public organizations. "At present the issue has become keener. The Dilijan park is the national property of Armenia", - Zarafyan concluded.

The Dilijan National Part was founded in 2002 on the basis of the state reservation functioning since 1958.
