Alaverdi Copper Smelting Employees Demanding Negotiations: Yerevan -Tbilisi Railway Blocked

Starting from the early morning of 13 February, the employees of Alaverdi copper smelting plant have blocked Yerevan-Tbilisi railroad. They are demanding to receive the response of their letter addressed to PM Nikol Pashnyan on 8 February and clarifications on their status. On 28 February, the employment agreements with the employees will be terminated, which have been prolonged for two months with the intervention of the government. Alaverdi Community Head Sasun Khechumyan is trying to convince the participants of the protest demonstration to open the railroad. In his interview with EcoLur, the Mayor said that the participants of the protest demonstration are demanding to hold negotiations. Reminder: the employees of Alaverdi copper smelting plant had sent a letter to the Armenian Prime Minister requesting to find a final solution by 1 March.
