What to Do in Case of Air Pollution: Recommendations by Ministry of Health of Armenia

Following the latest fire at Yerevan’s Nubarashen landfill, the Ministry of Health of Armenia has issued guidelines on what to do in the event of air pollution.

What Are the Dangers of Air Pollution?

Air pollution can cause the following health problems:

♦ Breathing difficulties
♦ Exacerbation of cardiovascular conditions
♦ Eye irritation and tearing
♦ Headaches and fatigue
♦ In children - bronchitis, worsening of asthma, and attention disorders

How to Protect Yourself and Your Family

♦ Stay indoors.
Keep doors and windows closed when air pollution levels are high.

♦ Wear a protective mask
especially when outdoors in urban areas or places with heavy traffic.

♦ Avoid physical activity outdoors.
Refrain from exercising, taking long walks, or allowing children to play outside during times of high pollution.
