EcoLur has released its new video titled “Wine as Armenia’s Tourism Calling Card” produced within the framework of “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) project.
In recent years, Armenia’s winemaking industry has gained new momentum, while continuing to honor its ancient traditions. Armenian wine has secured a distinct place on the global wine map. Winemaking is gradually becoming one of the most attractive and leading sectors of Armenia’s economy. Year by year, new vineyards are being planted, new wineries and tasting rooms are being opened.
Vayots Dzor Region is known as Armenia’s Wine Route, which now has its own winemaking map. Several winemaking businesses established along this route in recent years have received support from LILA project. The project promotes the development of nature-based businesses, helping preserve regional identity and strengthening the economic sustainability of local communities. The wine tasting rooms established through the project are becoming key drivers of local economic activity.
The video presents the success stories of four beneficiaries from Vayots Dzor who received support under the project.
At Areni-1 Cave Complex, Areni-1 Research Foundation is working to revive traditional winemaking practices, promote tourism in the region, and preserve cultural heritage. With support from LILA project, the foundation has established a wine tasting room and museum.
In Yeghegnadzor, Old Bridge Winery has also established a tasting room through the project. This connects the winery with the adjacent restaurant, allowing visitors to enjoy wine tastings right after touring the production facility.
In Vernashen, a tasting room has been created on the premises of Kria Winery. Visitors can not only savor the unique flavors and aromas of local wine but also learn about the story behind its production.
In Areni, Areni Wine Art guesthouse offers more than just hospitality services — it provides a unique winemaking experience. As a LILA beneficiary, the guesthouse transitioned fully to solar energy, was renovated, and became more comfortable for wine lovers. Participation in the project not only improved the facilities of the guesthouse but also contributed to broader community development.
The beneficiaries of the project also participated in professional training courses on winemaking and tourism.
The video was produced within the framework of “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) project, funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by WWF Armenia in partnership with Strategic Development Agency NGO.
