Warning: Air Pollution in Yerevan Record-Breaking

Warning: Air pollution in Yerevan has reached unprecedented levels-20 to 30 times higher than the standards set by the World Health Organization. The current air pollution levels can be found at https://www.iqair.com/armenia/yerevan. As of November 26, the PM2.5 concentration, which measures particulate matter in micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m³), reached 118 µg/m³ in the city.  This level has exceeded 440 µg/m³ over the past three weeks in certain areas, including Arinj, Bagrevand, and Paruyr Sevak Street.

“Public health seems to be completely out of control. Life-threatening pollution levels are not just numbers. They are linked to increased premature deaths from cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases and, even more concerning, rising cancer rates. There are no warning statements, no guidance,” Elena Manvelyan, PhD in Medical Sciences and the president of the organization, expressed her concerns.
