Climate Adaptability Enlargening in Armenia

Environment Minister Hakob Simidyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia, H.E. Mr. Masanori Fukushima, UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili today launched a new partnership reaffirming their commitment to fulfilling the commitments undertaken by the Paris Agreement to the socio-economic development goals of the country.

The Japanese government will invest $ 900,000 in Armenia to advance the implementation of the country's national climate promises through the United Nations Development Program.

The Government of the Republic of Armenia, in particular the new Japanese-funded program "Support to National Investments for Climate Risk Resistance in Armenia" implemented jointly with Environment Ministry, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, will strengthen the country's climate resilience and help increase adaptation measures by targeting enterprises headed by women, vulnerable groups and farmers.

At the end of the project workshop, Minister Hakob Simidyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia, H.E. Mr. Masanori Fukushima, and UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili signed the project document, as the Public Relations Department of Environment Ministry informs.
