Jermuk tourism town residents, Vayots Dzor Region, speak about their waterfall named "Mermaid's Hair" in the past. Once water-full waterfall is in miserable condition because of the SHPP. The SHPP has been constructed on "Sarnaghbyur" natural springs and brooklets of the Arpa River, the waters of which supply water to Jermuk waterfall. Especially hot tourism season you can see only wet stones in the waterfall.

"The water has been cut off starting from 1 October, only the water of one spring flows in the waterfall. Please, go and shoot everything and subtitle it as a waterfall without water," Jermuk residents complained to EcoLur.

They also referred to the SHPPs constructed on the Rpa River considering it impermissible the operation of several SHPPs on one river at once. The residents outlined the brown trout has disappeared from the river because of the SHPPs.

The material has been prepared in the frames of “Support to the Reforms of SHPPs through a Dialogue between the Public and The Ministry of Nature Protection of the RA for the Purpose of River Ecosystem Use” project.
