As a result of the torrential rains of May 25–26, 2024, the settlements of Lori and Tavush Region were declared disaster zones. The affected residents of these settlements will receive compensation of 180,000 AMD per 1 sq. m. for the purchase of new housing. On August 21, 2025, the Government of the Republic of Armenia approved the decision to amend the compensation procedure.
The basis for the amendment was the information submitted by representatives of Lori Regional Municipality and Head of Alaverdi Community, according to which the current rate of 148,050 AMD is not sufficient to acquire an equivalent apartment in the Alaverdi community and does not allow residents of emergency buildings or individual houses to benefit from the program.
According to the project, beneficiaries are required to purchase an apartment or house in the same community where they are registered as beneficiaries.
The deadline for submitting applications has been set for September 15, 2025.
