The management and employees of Scientific and Technological Center of Organic-Pharmaceutical Chemistry of NAS RA held a protest action on February 17, 2022, near the building of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. They demand not to allow the construction of an apartment building on the site of the pool located in the area Scientific and Technological Center of Organic Chemistry.
The alienated area was included in the list of structures of historical and cultural value in 2014. The section that passes through the center area was then removed from that list.
The transaction of alienation and privatization of the territory from the center in 2017 was studied by RA Investigative Committee, which reached the conclusion that it was illegal, but the case was later terminated," Sahak Gasparyan said, Scientific and Technological Center of Organic-Pharmaceutical Chemistry of NAS RA.
The construction of an apartment building next to chemical laboratories and productions is unacceptable. "The construction of that building will disrupt the normal work of the center. There is a lot of expensive equipment in the center. They may get out of order during construction, in which case the synthesis of drugs will become impossible," Sahak Gasparyan said.
It should be noted that International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has high requirements for the production conditions of medicines, in particular due to the concentration of dust and other contaminants.
The scientists of Scientific and Technological Center of Organic-Pharmaceutical Chemistry of NAS RA handed their demands in the form of a letter to RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
