Beginning January 1, 2027, the sale, distribution, and presence of polyethylene bags and sacks in retail outlets, public catering establishments, mobile trade points, and fairs will be prohibited when conducting retail trade-with the exception of bags used for weighing/packaging and garbage bags made from secondary raw materials.
The ban will also apply to polyethylene bags and sacks thicker than 50 microns.
On November 14, 2025, the Government of Armenia approved draft laws on amendments and additions to the Law on “Trade and Services” and related legislation.
