434 Trees To Be Cut Down in Case of Constructing

'Jinj Arpa Hydro' LLC is planning to construct "JermukHydro" SHHP on the right-wing of the Poqraqar Tributary to the Arpa River in Vayots Dzor Region, the length of which is 11.2 km. The second public hearings of the EIA of the SHPP construction will be held at Jermuk Town Municipality on 21 January 2019.

"JermukHydro" SHHP will be constructed 4km northeast from Jermuk Town in the upper basin of the Arpa River. The head section of the SHPP will be constructed at a distance of 30m from Jermuk hydrological sanctuary. 434 trees will be cut down in the forest zone of 1.4342 ha as a result of the construction of a pipeline, which is 1550 meters long and 1000 mm diameter. The SHPP pipeline will pipe 13.8 percent of the Poqraqar tributary. 'Jinj Arpa Hydro' LLC is obliged to plant trees in 2.8684 ha of forest areas in ArmForest SNCO to compensate caused damage.

In different months, the environmental flow of the SHPP will be different fluctuating from 0.18 cum/s to 0.60 cum/s. It is planned that the SHPP will annually produce 6.69 million kWh using 1.4 cum/s water.
