Environmental Fees Used to Clean Vachagan Riverbed

In Kapan Community, Syunik Region, works are underway to clean the Vachagan Riverbed and restore the riverbank walls. Speaking with EcoLur, Kapan Mayor Gevorg Parsyan said the project is being implemented in three phases, partially funded through environmental fees allocated to the community. The project is expected to be completed by 2026.

“We’ve already announced the tender for the third phase of the project. The first phase cost approximately 280 million AMD, out of which around 130 million AMD came from environmental fees. The second phase cost about 260 million AMD, with 160 million AMD from environmental fees. The contract value of the third phase will be about 460 million AMD, with 235 million AMD to be financed through environmental fees,” Gevorg Parsyan noted.
