Disastrous Ecological Condition in Artsvanik River Estuary

EcoLur

The ecological condition in Artsvanik River estuary is disastrous. The cause is excessive concentration of manganese and zinc in the river. Under the annual report by “Environmental Impact Monitoring Center” SNCO for 2012, the average annual concentration of manganese in Arstvanik river estuary exceeded MPC by 19.2 times, zinc – 11.4, molybdenum – 2.4, vanadium – 4.8, nitrite ion – 8.8, ammonium ion – 1.3, chromium – 1.6 and selenium – 2.9. Thus, the concentration of vanadium in the river made up 960 mgN/l, zinc – 570, molybdenum – 24, vanadium – 48, chromium – 80, selenium – 29, nitrite ion – 0.088 and ammonium ion – 0.26 mgN/l.

Under EcoLur’s Ecological Risk Model, the disastrous condition in the Artsvanik River estuary is conditioned with the excessive concentrations of manganese and zinc.
