Disaster Jeopardizing Martz River In Case “Martziget-1” SHPP Constructed
EcoLur
Disaster is jeopardizing the Martz River in case “Martziget-1” SHPP is constructed. The Martz River flows in Lori Region, is the right tributary to the Debed River. It starts from the south-eastern slopes of Gugarats mountain range. Its length is 29 km, while catchment basin is 252 sq. meters. It joins the Debed River near Tumanyan town. According to the license issued by Public Services Regulatory Committee, “Martziget-2” SHPP is constructed on the river operated by “Argishti-1” LLC, derivation length – 2818 and 2962 meters. The SHPP takes a total of 5780 meters of river territory into the river, which makes up 19.931034% of the river.
Under EcoLur’s Ecological Risk Model, it is considered to be normal for the river but it’s about making the river disastrous.
It should be mentioned that “Martziget-1” is planned to be constructed on the river by “Martzenergy” Company, the derivation length of which is 4750 meters. If the SHPP is constructed, a total of 10530 meters from the river length will be taken into pipes, which will make up 36.310345% of the river length. Under EcoLur’s Ecological Risk Model, it will be disastrous for the river.
If “Martziget-1” SHPP Constructed, Village Will Emigrate
