The members of the college adjunct to the Nature Protection Ministry propose to ban the import of refrigerators and air-conditioners containing chlorofluorocarbon into Armenia, as they damage the ozone layer. As Nature Protection Ministry Public Relations Department informs this issue was discussed at the meeting of the college, when they were discussing draft decisions on atmospheric air policy to be submitted to the Armenian Government. Under the reporter – Staff Head of Nature Protection Ministry Edgar Pirumyan, the import of this substance itself into Armenia was banned in 2010, while after adoption of this decision the import of equipment containing chlorofluorocarbon will be banned, which comes from the provisions of Montreal protocol. Nature Protection Minister Aram Harutyunyan said that the college gave its consent to draw up a governmental draft decision. “This decision is necessary for our country, as ozone destructing substances can damage the ozone layer,” the Minister said.
