September 13 will mark the Day of Specially Protected Areas in Armenia. On September 2, 2021, the executive adopted "On Celebrating Day of Specially Protected Areas in the Republic of Armenia" resolution. According to the substantiation of the resolution, the resolution will contribute to the increase in the capacity for the specially protected areas in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, the solution of the environmental problems.
The total area of specially protected nature areas in the Republic of Armenia is 387,054 ha or 13.1% of the total area ofthe Republic of Armenia. Specially protected nature areas in Armenia include 3 state reserves, 4 national parks, 232 natural monuments, 27 state reserves.
