"Only One Earth" - World Celebrated World Environment Day on 5 June

On June 5, the world celebrated World Environment Day. It has been celebrated since 1973 after the adoption of the UN Environment Program in Stockholm.

The motto of the holiday in 2022 is "Only one Earth", the theme is "Sustainable life in harmony with nature". "There are billions of galaxies in space. There are billions of planets in our galaxy, but there is only one Earth," the official website of World Environment Day says.

A video has been released on the official YouTube page of the UN Environment Program, calling on all human beings to take every action for the benefit of the Earth, to preserve the clean environment and reduce the negative impact.

RA Environment Minister Hakob Simidyan delivered a congratulatory message on the occasion of World Environment Day, noting that they are ready to do their best to make Armenia one of the developing countries in the field of environment.

"Only one Earth": this is the motto of World Environment Day 2022, as it was announced 50 years ago in Stockholm, when the UN Environment Program was adopted. The destruction of ecosystems, the loss of biodiversity, soil and air pollution, climate change not only harm the nature around us, but also threaten our well-being.

The burden of environmental disasters is disproportionately distributed, with poor and developing countries suffering the most from this catastrophe. Armenia is not indifferent to the environmental problems so the public's attention should be focused on them, and all our efforts should be combined to tackle them.

Thanks to the efforts of Environment Ministry, the legislative field related to the environment has been incomparably reformed today. Under the auspices of the Government, effective cooperation with international partners is aimed at effective bioresource management, forest protection, biodiversity and ecosystem restoration, increasing water resource management efficiency, rethinking nature and fostering responsible behavior among our compatriots.

We will do our best to make Armenia one of the developing countries in the field of environment. Congratulations to the staff of the ministry, my dear colleagues, each of us.

"This day is a great opportunity to reflect on how important the environment is, how to make it greener, cleaner and healthier, to take care of nature, to take responsibility for passing it on to future generations, because the earth is one,” the congratulatory message of Minister Hakob Simidyan said.
